Energy‑Efficient Heating Approach
Humphrey & Crockett were appointed to enhance the heating performance at Sutton Scotney Village Hall, a well‑used community space that required a more efficient and responsive heating setup. The existing air source heat pump (ASHP) system, although functional, struggled to keep up with variable hall usage and required supplementary heating, especially during cold periods or larger events.

The village hall needed a solution that could deliver rapid warmth, integrate with their smart booking system and allow flexible control based on different room layouts and community activities.
To meet these needs, Humphrey & Crockett installed a modern, energy‑efficient heating enhancement package, centred around Mirrorstone infrared bar heaters chosen for their speed, efficiency and suitability for large spaces such as Sutton Scotney Village Hall.
✔ Mirrorstone Infrared Bar Heaters
We fitted multiple high‑performance infrared bar heaters throughout the hall. These provide instant warmth, improve comfort and reduce reliance on the ASHP during peak demand.
✔ Smart Booking Integration
All heaters were linked into the hall’s existing smart booking system, enabling them to automatically switch on shortly before each scheduled event. This ensures the hall is warm upon arrival without wasting energy throughout the day.
✔ ASHP Support at Lower Temperatures
The infrared heaters act as a supplementary system, enabling the ASHP to run at a lower, more efficient temperature, extending its lifespan and improving overall energy performance.
✔ Individual Fuse Spur Isolation
Each heater was wired to a low‑level fuse spur, giving the hall’s management the ability to switch individual heaters off. This gives full flexibility to heat only the areas in use, perfect for smaller meetings, classes or partial hall hire.
