Transformative heating system upgrade

Humphrey and Crockett recently completed a transformative heating system upgrade for a late 1990s residential property, delivering comfort, sustainability, and modern technology combined into one energy solution with a new air source heat pump. Suitable for this family-home ensuring longevity and long-term savings on energy bills.

The project

The original electric storage heaters were dated and inefficient. By fully removing them we were able to install new radiators, marking the start of a full-scale overhaul aimed at drastically improving energy performance and reducing carbon footprint.

At the heart of the new system lies a Stiebel Eltron air source heat pump. German-engineered for quality and reliability, the unit provides energy-efficient heating that’s responsive and sustainable.

To complement the system’s advanced capabilities, remote monitoring using our Homely technology was integrated. Allowing for real-time performance checks and easier maintenance for our client. We want our homeowners to enjoy peace of mind and absolute control over their heating from anywhere.

Project outcome

A brand new central heating system was designed and installed from the ground up by Humphrey & Crockett’s expert team. Every element was tailored to the property’s specific layout and insulation levels as part of our initial survey. Discover more about our heating assessments here.

Radiators were carefully selected and sized to match the calculated heat loss across each room, ensuring optimum thermal comfort with minimal energy waste.

The outdated hot water setup was replaced with a mains pressure hot water cylinder, providing powerful and consistent flow throughout the home.

This project was supported by a £7,500 BUS (Boiler Upgrade Scheme) voucher, a government backed scheme designed to support green energy solutions across the UK. This grant significantly offsets the installation costs for the homeowner making the entire project more affordable.

In line with current green energy incentives, the entire installation benefitted from zero-rated VAT, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable living and affordability.
